challenge day 1:

1. Listen to both audio files:
If you are hearing-impaired, please email joy@strengthsdna.com for the daily challenges in written PDF form instead.

2. Resources: (click to download)

3. Assignment:

STEP 1) Describe your brand voice in 3 words. Yup! Only 3! This way, when you’re writing your stories and content, you can always do a quick gut check – does this align with my 3 brand voice words? If not, maybe it’s time for a re-write.

Mine are: Authentic, Friendly, and Passionate.

Some ideas to get your started:
Quirky, passionate, unexpected, action-oriented, engaging, direct, tough love, honest, motivating, level-headed, goofy, genuine, surprising, shock value, etc...

You can use the above worksheet to record your words and explain why you chose them or what they mean to you.

STEP 2) POST in the group your 3 brand voice words! If you’re feeling really ambitious (and I encourage you to do so!), tell us what your 3 words are in a short video and why you chose those words!

P.S. By doing this on video, you can really explain WHY you chose these words and feel free to incorporate a story into why these words represents YOU! 🦄

Check out the Files section in the group for the Day 1 recorded challenge live stream.

    challenge day 2:

    1. Listen to the audio file:
If you are hearing-impaired, please email joy@strengthsdna.com for the daily challenges in written PDF form instead.

    Links referenced in the audio:

    • The 4 P's of Storytelling by HarveyDavid.com
    • Marie Forelo's SuperSoul Session with Oprah (P.S. If you haven't watched this SuperSoul Session yet, you should! She's such a great storyteller!)

    2. Resources: (click to download - this will download in Dropbox)

On each page of the workbook, start collecting ideas for stories you can write on each of the 4 P's. Think of this like a story bank of ideas for your content!

    3. Assignment:

STEP 1) Create a story using ONE of the 4P's - Princes, Purses, Places, or Pets.

Be sure that your story relates to your business in some way, even though you're featuring one of the 4P's. Just like in my example I mentioned in the audio, with Marie Forelo, I tie it back to what I offer my clients -- my "everything is figureoutable" attitude makes me a go-to resource for my clients, etc, etc. So, when you're sharing your story, be sure to tie it into your business and what you do. After all, this story is all part of what helps "sell" without being a sales pitch. People can get to know you through the story! And, don't forget to make sure your story aligns with your brand voice.

Another example...A coach I love, Kate Crocco, posts about her dog Turbo a lot. He's always lounging in the background of her live streams and such. This week, she focused her FB Group topics around "staying in your own lane" and not getting "comparisonitis"! She did a live stream with her dog Turbo sitting next to her...he was hogging her space and not staying in his lane. It was a cute analogy and very visual!

Not sure what story to share? Think of something about your business you want to share -- it could be a new program or course, your signature offering, a new opt-in, a challenge you're starting, a free assessment call, etc...now think of a story that can relate to that message and tie it all into one of the 4 P's and your brand voice. Boom! You've got yourself a story! If you get stuck, tag me in the group!

You can do this in a written post (with or without graphics) or video!!

STEP 2) Post in the FB group your story! Check out the Files section in the group for the Day 2 recorded challenge live stream.

    CHALLENGE DAY 3:

    1. Listen to the audio files:
If you are hearing-impaired, please email joy@strengthsdna.com for the daily challenges in written PDF form instead.

    2. Resources: (click to download)

    3. Assignment:

STEP 1) Create a survey & post it in Facebook Groups that your idea clients hang out in, or potential clients, email to your list, or send to your clients for feedback.

✔︎ You want to create this survey to hear in your potential client's EXACT words what their current struggles, challenges, issues are and why they are a struggle, and if they've done anything to try and fix it.

✔︎ Once you have collected some results from a survey, I want you to start a word bank so you have recorded the words your potential clients are using. What THEY say and how you've been communicating something may not be the same. And, we want your message to RESONATE with them....so this is hugely important! Really listen what they say. You can create this word bank in Word, Trello, Asana, Evernote, or just pen & paper!

✔︎ You can center your questions around finding answers around your business as a whole (what you do), or for as specific program or course or offering you have. See example questions in the resources linked above in the Resources section! Tip: Try to use open-ended questions so that clients can type in their own words the answers, versus trying to answer based on a defined answer set.

✔︎ Post in the FB Group your survey link -- there may be people in this group that may want to answer for you & help you along with your market research. But, don't just answer someone's survey for the heck of it or just to be "helpful"...only if it resonates with you so that your answers are truly helpful, okay? Okay!

STEP 2 - OPTIONAL) If you're able to get feedback today, think of a story that would correlate around some of the words your potential clients used, and post in the group! The main assignment today is the survey and starting your word bank....but you can take it this step further today if you have time and get some survey feedback! I'd love to see what you come up with!

STEP 3) Post in the FB group your survey link (+ optional story!)!

JUST TO CLARIFY on posting your survey ----- Some groups don't like links...so be sure you follow that particular group's rules for link sharing and such. Some other options:

☞ Post your questions in a written post instead and just collect comment responses
☞ I'd steer away from the Poll feature since that's just fixed responses rather than leaving the questions open-ended which will work better for you! :)
☞ This option may be better for you if you don't want to get hung up in the "technology" piece of creating a survey.
☞ If you do use Typeform, SurveyMonkey, or GetFeedback though, they do have good analytics built in.

I'd rather you get it out there and ask questions, rather than get hung up on the format, OK? Okay!!! Let's go!!!!!!!!!

    CHALLENGE DAY 4:

    1. Listen to the audio file:

    Links referenced in the audio:

    2. Resources: (click to download)

    3. Assignment:

STEP 1) Create your brand story.

Remember, take us on the journey with you, following either the Freitag's pyramid, hero's journey, etc...Your story should have a beginning, middle and end. As well as, your story should evoke some type of emotion! This is the reasons WHY you do what you do.

Reference my story (linked above under the audio) for a written & video example.

I'd love for you to tell us your story in a video format. Why? Because emotions are easier to connect with when someone can see your face! Plus, it can lend for a more engaging story.

STEP 2) Post in the FB group your story (video or written)! Check out the Files section in the group for the Day 4 recorded challenge live stream.

    CHALLENGE DAY 5:

    1. Listen to the audio file:

    3. Assignment:

STEP 1) Post a story today using a powerful visual.

Choose a story you feel like sharing with us and then connect with a cool photo or video of yourself, an audio, infographic, etc....whatever best relates to your story!

Don't forget, go back to your brand voice when writing your story. Your story can be super short or long, but keep it at a length that may best represent the platform you're posting on. Facebook can take a longer post than Twitter or Instagram, obviously!

Today's assignment gives you a lot of freedom to really do something cool! Get creative! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

STEP 2) Post in the FB group your story with your related visual aid! Check out the Files section in the group for the Day 5 recorded challenge live stream.
